Self-Portraits

What's the difference between a selfie and a self-portrait? A selfie captures a picture of one's self at that moment in time, while a self-portrait captures a photo of one's self, but it captures the personality or nature of the person that takes it. A self-portrait is a form of art, whether it is photography or painting, it expresses the artist itself to show who the artist is and their sort of style and vibe.

The photo I included above is just a normal photo of myself just relaxing; although it gives it more of a selfie vibe, it captures the sort of person I am. Self-portraits are always up to the artist to decide how they want to express themselves and what they feel is the best representation of themselves. That is what I did above; I showed myself as I go on with my daily routine to show that I can be efficient; whether it is artistic or not is up to those who view it.

Self Portraits also fulfill the idea of remembrance, showing people who this person was or how you looked like. Nowadays, self-portraits can be used to illustrate what a historical person looked like but are also used in artistic ways. This work of art has much importance, whether it is expressing or a way to remember an individual who passed away, a memory of that person. Either through art or photography, they both fulfill the same purpose; the artist influencing how they want to portray themselves, and that's what I believe is an important factor of self-portraits.
